Response to "A Different Place"

       This story was about a family who was involved in a car accident in which the narrator learns of from his father. The narrator wasn't involved in the accident and once his family members are brought back to the states, tries to piece together what actually happened, while also mourning the loss of his friend Derick.

       I loved the dialogue in this story and I felt that it really helped explain a lot of things without having to provide an explanation of everything. It felt conversational and realistic and it moved the story forward. We really get to see more of the action through the dialogue which was nice. 

     The only suggestion I have for this story is that I wanted to see more of the narrators character develop and then change. I'm not sure if he really changed by the end of the story. I would like to know a little more about him and also why was he so close to Derick? Derick was an adult right? So was he like an "uncle" for him or just a really close family friend? Other than that I liked this story, and your use of dialogue was great.
